Designer Anthony Rubano of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency will lead a walking tour discussing the architectural styles, materials, and treatments that make up downtown Springfield. Capital City Bicentennial Celebration & Taste of Downtown
July 3 & 4, 2009
This year Springfield’s Taste of Downtown will join the Capital City Bicentennial Celebration in commemoration of Lincoln’s 200th Birthday as a key component of this free, family oriented, two day festival. A variety of local restaurants will provide classic, gourmet and ethnic fare and the American Music Stage will present a variety of nationally-touring, critically-acclaimed musicians and local talent. A children’s area will offer both contemporary and Lincoln period entertainment and activities. The event is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to midnight on July 3 and 12:00 p.m. to midnight on July 4. Fireworks are scheduled for the evening of July 4th.  DSI is proud to participate in this unique tribute to Abraham Lincoln and work with the City of Springfield, a number of historic sites and community organizations to create this great event.
