First Night Springfield

The Springfield Area Arts Council (SAAC) celebrates its 32nd annual First Night Springfield on New Year’s Eve in downtown Springfield. Starting at noon on December 31st, this family-friendly, celebration of the arts features talented local and regional artists & performers across 11 stages in 5 venues.
There is a free admission children’s stage and activity area in Springfield High School from 1pm-4pm, and Mark Gifford performs on the Barton Organ at Springfield High School from 4:15pm- 5:45pm. Admission to the organ concert is included in the price of a First Night Wristband, or $5 separately.
All other performances take place from 5pm-11:15pm at The Hoogland Center for the Arts, The Lincoln Home Visitors Center, Kari Bedford Photography Studio, and The Lincoln Library. All types of music, dance, improv comedy, drama, storytelling, magic, and art is available to entertain audiences of all ages.
Wristbands are available for purchase at Bank of Springfield locations, the Hoogland Center for the Arts, or online at HCFTA.org
Adults are $18 in advance, $20 at the door
Youth ages 5-18 are $5
**All performance spaces are alcohol-free
Public Works will close Capitol between 2nd and 4th by 6:45 pm
Close Capitol @ 5th by 7:45 pm
Close 4th at Jackson by 7:45 pm
All streets to reopen at 8:45 pm or when fireworks workers clear out
*Capitol street between 2nd and 4th will be red bagged on 12.28.2018 at 2 pm and will be removed early 01.02.2019 early am Monday 12.31.2018
