Named one of the Top 25 Fun Half-Marathons you’ll want to run this year according to competitor.com.
This is the only race where you can immerse yourself in Lincoln history and enjoy a scenic run past the only home he ever owned, his law office, the Old State Capitol where he delivered his “House Divided” speech, and his final resting place in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The USATF certified course starts and ends at the historic Old State Capitol. The Lincoln sites and Springfield’s hospitality make this a destination race for the whole family.
As in past years, electronic tag timing will be used. New for this year is that each finisher will get a laser-printed receipt that shows their race time, with splits.
There will great post-race food and beverages on the lawn of the Old State Capitol, and all finishers will receive a giant penny medal and an opportunity to have their picture taken with Lincoln impersonator Michael Krebs as well as other Civil War interpreters.
Road closures: Participants and spectators should be aware that Washington between 5th and 6th will be closed starting at 4pm Friday, and 6th Street (one way north-bound) will be closed to traffic between Cook and Madison at approximately 6:30 am on Saturday to allow for start line set up.
