Memories of Illinois Veterans Discussion
November 19 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Recollections of Illinois Veterans of World Wars I and II, Korean, Vietnam and other more recent wars will be the topic of this Sangamon County Historical Society program. The event is free and open to the public.
Historian Mark DePue, head of the Oral History Program at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, will share portions of the program’s Veterans Remember series in a PowerPoint presentation. The discussion will offer insights into how and why he has been assembling the compelling stories from the experiences of veterans.
DePue, a former senior analyst at the headquarters of the Army National Guard in Arlington, Virginia, served as an Army officer for 25 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree from West Point and master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Iowa.
