Record Store Day!

April 21 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

April 21st is Record Store Day (RSD) and is being celebrated at both Recycled Records and Dumb Records beginning at 8:00 A.M.

David Salo shops for female jazz singers on the second floor of Recyled Records Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 in Springfield, Ill.”Before I got a record player I used to never be into this kind of music.” Salo is from Indiana and visited the store while in Springfield on business. RSD is when national distributors release limited edition vinyl available only at independent record stores—no box stores. Most releases are limited from 500 to 7500 pieces worldwide and several are colored vinyl, picture discs, or recordings never released before.

Recycled Records will have cookies from Café Moxo, donuts from Mel-O-Cream, and will provide fresh fruit and coffee. Liz Willis from WYMG will do a two hour live remote beginning at 8:00 to kick off the day.

Among several artists with releases for RSD are:

Allman Brothers, B-52’s, Jeff Beck, Dickie Betts, Beau Brummels, David Bowie, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Who, Animals, Johnny Cash, Gary Clark Jr., Ornette Coleman, Cure, Miles Davis, Doors, Dr. Who, Steve Earle, John Fogerty, Flamin’ Groovies, Jerry Garcia, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Hot Tuna, Jason Isbell, Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, MC5, Thelonious Monk, Moody Blues, Van Morrison, National, Frank Zappa, Phish, Police, Son Volt, Soundgarden, Bruce Springsteen, Marty Stuart, U2, and Neil Young.
