The Heritage Foundation is a subsidiary non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) tax status that encourages and facilitates the development of vacant or underutilized downtown properties. It is also the primary funding arm for Downtown Springfield’s charitable, educational, and cultural heritage projects. It is governed by a separate volunteer board of trustees.
