Ace Sign Co Christmas Tree 2016Thanks to Ace Sign Company for creating this year's beautiful Christmas tree, a 16
Mr. and Mrs. Claus will greet good girls and boys in the toasty, historic Old State Capitol, with games and crafts for kids led by Historic Sites “elves.” Families are encouraged to take their own photos with Santa and children receive a free candy cane. The Old State Capitol will also be hosting visits from historical figures such as US Grant. "Traditional Santa" and Mrs. Claus will be available to hear wish lists.
carriage-ride-onlyWith the support of the City of Springfield & Illinois National Bank, we're hosting free Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides by Red Gate Farms. The carriage seats 12 people. This year’s route starts and stops at Del's Popcorn and goes around the Old State Capitol down 6th and 5th. Wednesday 5-8 and Saturdays 1-4
Rides will not be available on December 1 and a late start time on December 8 (2-5)

springfield-choirCommunity groups are providing music on the Plaza this season.
Santa MailboxChildren can put their letter for Santa into a Mailbox for Santa, on the Old State Capitol Plaza, anytime starting Saturday. The Springfield Art Association "elves" generously converted and decorated an old book drop from a Decatur public library to its new festive purpose. (Santa won't respond by mail.)
parkingHoliday Walk shoppers will find convenient parking in the underground garage beneath the Old State Capitol until 6 pm on Saturdays; and until 8:00 p.m. during the Wednesdays of the Walk; the cost is 75 cents per half hour. Parking is free at downtown meters on Saturdays and Sundays and Wednesdays after 5 p.m.
