From 5-8 pm, enjoy free tours of the Cathedral. The Dana Thomas House is also open for architecture tours during this time.
Celebrate the life of one of Springfield’s leading ladies of the early 20th century at a gala dinner honoring Susan Lawrence Dana on her 157th birthday. Best known for building the Frank Lloyd Wright house in Springfield, Mrs. Dana was also involved with many social and political movements. Maldaner’s Restaurant was Mrs. Dana’s go-to establishment for catering her many opulent parties and receptions. Music by the Virgil Rhodes Trio, a reading of Mrs. Dana’s letters by Linda Schneider and rooftop garden tours during cocktails.
Admission is $125 per person, which includes gourmet dinner with wine and beer (cash bar cocktails).

The Dana-Thomas House Foundation was incorporated in 1983, and exists to preserve and protect the Dana-Thomas House and to promote citizen awareness of the architectural significance of Frank Lloyd Wright.
This annual event offers two full days of panels covering a wide range of topics from Illinois’s political, cultural, and social history that will appeal to academics, teachers, and anyone interested in the past. Continuing education credits are also available.
Thursday’s luncheon will feature Adam Selzer as he discusses his most recent book, HH Holmes: The True History of the White City Devil.

University of Illinois Master Gardener and Master Naturalist volunteers will present a “Butterflies and Bugs” open house on Saturday, June 15, from 1-3 pm in the gardens at the Dana-Thomas House State Historic site located at 301 E. Lawrence Avenue, Springfield.
Children and their families are invited to learn about the butterfly motif in the house and investigate the courtyard and cottage garden’s butterfly and bug habitats, or play a butterfly game in the courtyard, or do both! The volunteers will also share information on planting Pollinator Pocket gardens and planters to help attract butterflies and pollinators to guests’ own yards.
Rain date is Sunday, June 16, also from 1-3 pm.
