Fun Frosty Friday

Jumpstart your holiday season at the 5th Annual Fun Frosty Friday! This FREE family event features fun for the entire family and includes trains, face painting, balloon art and our signature LIFE-SIZED CANDY LAND ADVENTURE! What would a holiday event be without a photo opportunity with Santa and a real-life Ice Princess?!?!?! Enjoy the festivities with us, but you might want to watch out for the Grinch!

The Parent Place 3rd Annual Halloween Parade

RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER FOR NOVEMBER 2 at 5:30!

The Parent Place is hosting their 3rd Annual Halloween Parade! The parade will take place on November 2 on 5th and 6th Streets at 5:30pm. There will be floats and musical and dance performances plus plenty of family fun activities.

ROUTE
The parade route is Jefferson to 5th street to Monroe to 6th street to Washington.

STREET CLOSURES
The City closes Jefferson Street between 9th and 7th street for staging at 3:30 pm. Vehicles will be towed after 4 pm. Streets will reopen immediately after the parade.

FOOD TRUCKS

Food trucks (Aztca Mexican Grill, Irie Jerk Food Truck, Coleman Concessions & Bad Dads Pizza) will be located on Washington Street, in between 5th and 6th Streets, next to the Old State Capitol from 5:00 pm until after the parade.

 

SPOOKTACULAR

The SPOOKTACULAR Evening sponsored by INB Bank is suitable for all ages and includes historical characters “haunting” the exhibit journeys, special eerie lighting and music, live DJ music, snacks/drinks, crafts and games! (Children must be accompanied by adults, no adult costume with hood/mask is allowed.)

Only one $10 family ticket is required. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Butterflies and Bugs in the Dana-Thomas House Gardens

University of Illinois Master Gardener and Master Naturalist volunteers will present a “Butterflies and Bugs” open house on Saturday, June 15, from 1-3 pm in the gardens at the Dana-Thomas House State Historic site located at 301 E. Lawrence Avenue, Springfield.

Children and their families are invited to learn about the butterfly motif in the house and investigate the courtyard and cottage garden’s butterfly and bug habitats, or play a butterfly game in the courtyard, or do both! The volunteers will also share information on planting Pollinator Pocket gardens and planters to help attract butterflies and pollinators to guests’ own yards.

Rain date is Sunday, June 16, also from 1-3 pm.

Mascot Day

Join the fun with baseball crafts and St. Louis Cardinals’ FredBird and Chicago Cubs’ Clark Bear!

$5 admission will get you:
• A tour of our ‘Cubs vs. Cardinals: The Rivalry’ exhibit
• Mingle with your favorite Mascot from 1:30-2:15 p.m.
• Children can design their own mascot and mini-baseball hats, and make baseballs to take home!
