Behind the Scenes with Four Writers

Four local writers will share their behind-the-scene stories at this Sangamon County Historical Society program. The event is free and open to the public.

The team of well-known history writers will share their surprises and discuss some of the more unusual, humorous and perhaps scandalous historical facts and myth busters they’ve discovered as they have delved into old records and dusty photos or conducted face-to-face interviews.

Speakers will be Mike Kienzler, Taylor Pensoneau, Cinda Ackerman Klickna and Tara McClellen McAndrews.

Kienzler is the founding editor of SangamonLink.org and retired editor and reporter of The State Journal-Register.

Pensoneau, a former political reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, former president of the Illinois Coal Association, has authored several books about Illinois politicians and gangsters.

Klickna, a free-lance writer whose works have appeared in the Illinois Times, is a former English teacher and has had several positions with the Illinois Education Association and National Education Association.

McAndrews, a free-lance writer and producer, has worked in a variety of media and covered Illinois State government for National Public Radio. Her articles have appeared in several national publications.
