Event Details

Nora Moore Lloyd, an enrolled member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Nation, creates artwork that focuses on Indigenous cultures, nature, and documenting community and family history through traditional storytelling and photography. Her work currently on display in the Human/Nature exhibit focuses on the past and present Ojibwe practice of harvesting birch bark for many things including basketry, canoe making, and coverings for structures. These practices are rooted in forest management, conservation, and the continuity of Indigenous cultural expression and identity, but Indigenous people have long had to fight to continue to follow traditional practices. Join artist Nora Moore Lloyd and Curator of Art Douglas Stapleton for a discussion of Moore Lloyd’s work and how it relates to Indigenous culture and history.Advanced registration is required at bit.ly/ChatLloyd and space is limited.
