Part of Lincoln (Public) Library’s Behind the Book Series. Author Dr. Frederick Gooding, Jr. is an associate professor of African American Studies at TCU and Chair of TCU’s inaugural Race & Reconciliation Initiative (RRI).
Rather than merely chronicle Black Academy Award winners, this manuscript offers a critical and complete analysis of the various nominated and winning roles for Black actors since the Academy’s inception. Dr. Gooding’s contribution therefore provides a framework to help readers re-assess not just the quantity, but the quality of Black images over time.
