Join us online and in-person as we explore the beauty and breadth of nature with Recycled Play Day! Combine recycling with crafts, nature walks with science experiments, and learn fun ways that we can all help preserve our environment. Learn about biodegradable products, make art with a box of mystery supplies, and try your hand at making your own cardboard house.

The Illinois State Museum has partnered with Lincoln Memorial Garden for an outdoor socially distanced event. On Saturday, April 3 from 1-3pm at the Garden, participate in a scavenger hunt as you take a walk on the trails and learn all about composting and enter to win a door prize! Free activity kits with four art and science activities will be available to take home while supplies last. (When at Lincoln Memorial Gardens, please observe social distancing and wear a mask especially when social distancing is not possible). Rain date is Saturday, April 10. Check the Museum’s website and Facebook page for updates.

Can’t make it to the Garden on Saturday? Stop by the ISM on Friday, April 2nd from 3-6pm to get a kit on a first-come-first serve basis, supplies are limited. Additional activity ideas and resources will be available on the ISM Family fun site at bit.ly/ismfamilyfun to support earth-friendly fun at home.

Activities will be geared toward elementary age children and their families, but most will be adaptable to other ages. For additional information, please contact Sarah Davis at events@illinoisstatemuseum.org or (217) 782-6044. This event is sponsored by bankwithBOS.
