Improving Foot Traffic and Visitor Engagement in Downtown Springfield
Hi everyone,
I’ve been thinking about ways we can increase foot traffic and overall visitor engagement in Downtown Springfield, especially during weekdays and seasonal lulls. Our downtown has great restaurants, shops, and events, but it feels like many people only come for specific festivals or weekends. I’d love to hear your thoughts on a few key questions and start a constructive discussion:
• What types of events or activities do you think would draw more locals and visitors downtown regularly (e.g., pop-up markets, live music, art walks, themed evenings)?• Are there specific times of year or days of the week when downtown seems quietest, and what might help boost activity then?
• How can we make downtown more appealing for families, young professionals, and retirees alike?• Are there partnership opportunities with local businesses, schools, or community groups that we haven’t tapped into yet?
I’m hoping this thread can become a community-driven brainstorming space with practical ideas we can share with the Downtown Springfield organization or local business owners. Looking forward to your insights and suggestions!
