Downtown Springfield Inc. Names Lana Shovlin as Program Coordinator
CUDNTWN- Downtown Springfield Inc. (DSI) recently welcomed Lana Shovlin as their new Program Coordinator. Shovlin will be responsible for spearheading all of the fundable programs and events that support Main Street principles and the events that raise funds for DSI’s continued work and sustainability.
Before joining the DSI team, Shovlin worked as a publicist for Southern Illinois University Press (2014-2017), where she used her strong networking skills to organize press events, schedule book signings, and craft press releases for authors. She worked closely with local and national media to generate buzz around new book releases and spent much of her time being the biggest cheerleader for her clients.
Since moving to Springfield, Shovlin has been freelance writing for the Illinois Times and the Springfield Business Journal. It was through these publications that she got the opportunity to know and establish relationships with many of Springfield’s business professionals. When she heard about the opening for the Program Coordinator, she jumped at the chance to further immerse herself in the community.
Shovlin is excited to start her new career with DSI and looks forward to using her skills to enhance everything wonderful that Downtown Springfield has to offer.
