Join Downtown Springfield Inc. for the first day of the 2019 Old Capitol Holiday Walks!

It’s also Small Business Saturday, the nationwide day to spend a portion of your gift-giving dollars on local and independently owned businesses, which you can find in spades in the downtown neighborhood, with friendly shop owners, free gift wrapping and more!

Drawing for the DSI Santa Hat presented by the State Journal Register raffle winner on the Old State Capitol Plaza (6th and Adams). Purchase a Santa Hat for $10 through the month of November to receive coupons to some of your favorite downtown shops and support DSI’s work to support local businesses.

Jump on the Santa Van to take you between downtown shopping and Springfield’s historic sites, sponsored by the Springfield Historic Sites and provided by the Ancient Athletics of the St. Andrew’s Society of Central Illinois. Donations are accepted. The Santa Van stop is next to the Visitor’s Center at 6th and Adams.

Join us for Santa’s Grand Entrance, Springfield Youth Performance Group’s holiday performance, and the Official Lighting Ceremony of the community tree by Ace Sign Company & Butler Funeral Home followed by New! the High School Choir Competition sponsored by Landmark Automotive Group and SYPG Foundation and presented by 98.7 WNNS. You’ll enjoy performances by the top three choirs with the winning school being presented with a $500 check.

The participating schools, in alphabetical order, are: Glenwood Chatham High School, Springfield High School, and Taylorville High School.

9th Annual Downhome Music Festival

The 9th Annual Downhome Music Festival will be held on July 26 & 27, 2019 at the corner of 7th and Washington in downtown Springfield, Illinois. The event will feature all local, original live bands (4 stages – constant music). There will be local food vendors, 100 different craft beers, as well as a kids area for the little ones!

$6 at the gate. You can also buy tickets from your favorite local band playing the 2019 festival.
Kid 12 & under are free.

DSI Poker Run

Join us for our annual poker race through downtown at the Route 66 Mother Road Festival. We will have a DSI booth set up at 6th and Adams to start. Cost is $5 and we will have your cards available at the booth. This is a scavenger hunt for the best poker hand. How do you get the best poker hand? You visit all of our participating member stores downtown. Participating locations include; Daisy Jane’s, Springfield Vintage, Studio on 6th, the Original Art Co-op, Recycled Records, Jade’s Far East Emporiumium, The Roost, Urban Sassafras, The Cardologist, Old Capitol Goods & What the Shirt, and Murphy’s Loft.

You will recieve your first two cards upon receiving your poker card. Once you have visited all of the stores and recieved a stamp from them you will return your completed card to the DSI booth. We will then give you the remaining three cards needed to complete your poker hand. Poker race participants will be eligible to win gifts donated by our downtown retail stores which will be raffled throughout the day. Final cash prizes will be raffled at the end of the day to the best three poker hands. So come out and enjoy the Route 66 Mother Road Festival and be sure to show your hand at the DSI booth!
