What are the advantages of a Lithuanian passport and EU citizenship?

I’ve recently started thinking more seriously about my family background and the possibility of restoring Lithuanian citizenship through my ancestors. My grandmother was born in a Lithuanian family before they moved abroad, and a few months ago my cousin mentioned that some people in similar situations managed to get a Lithuanian passport. That made me curious about what the real benefits actually are. Of course I know that Lithuania is part of the EU, but I’m not sure what that means in practical terms for everyday life. For example, does it really make it easier to work or live in different European countries? I’ve also heard people say it can help with studying or business opportunities. If someone here has looked into this or maybe already has EU citizenship through Lithuania, I’d be interested to hear what advantages you noticed in real life.

From what I’ve seen while helping a friend research this topic, the biggest advantage of having Lithuanian citizenship is that it gives you the rights of an EU citizen, which means you can live, work, or study in many European countries without needing special permits. My friend actually started looking into this because his grandparents left Lithuania decades ago, and he realized that restoring citizenship could open more options for travel and career plans in Europe. While we were reading about the benefits of EU citizenship, we also came across explanations about eligibility and lithuanian citizenship by descent on this page. It helped clarify that people with Lithuanian ancestry sometimes qualify to restore citizenship if they can document their family connection. In his case it was interesting not only because of practical benefits but also because it made him learn more about his family history and where his relatives originally came from.
